Visiting Korea for the first time? Getting around is easier than you might think. Korea has an excellent network of trains, subways, buses, and taxis, and English signs are common in major tourist areas.

Here is a simple transportation guide to help you travel confidently from the moment you arrive.

1. Incheon Airport to Seoul: Train, Bus or Taxi?

Most international travelers arrive at Incheon International Airport (ICN). There are three main ways to reach Seoul.

🚆 AREX Airport Railroad — Fast & Easy

The AREX connects Incheon Airport with Seoul Station.

It is a great choice if you are traveling alone or staying near Seoul Station or a convenient subway connection.

Best for: Fast and predictable travel
Choose AREX if: You want to avoid road traffic.

🚌 Airport Limousine Bus — Best with Luggage

Airport buses travel directly to major areas such as Myeongdong, Gangnam, Dongdaemun, and central Seoul.

They are especially convenient when your hotel is close to an airport-bus stop.

Best for: Large luggage and convenient hotel access
Choose the bus if: You don't want to carry suitcases through subway stations.

🚕 Taxi — Most Comfortable

A taxi offers door-to-door transportation but costs much more than public transportation.

Your hotel location matters more than choosing the “fastest” transportation.

2. Getting Around Seoul — Take the Subway

For most tourists, the Seoul Subway is the easiest way to explore the city.

You can reach major attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Myeongdong, Hongdae, Gangnam, Dongdaemun, Jamsil, and the Han River by public transportation.

Station signs and announcements commonly include English, and subway lines are identified by numbers and colors.

Simple rule:
Find your station → Check the line → Tap your card → Ride → Tap again when you exit.

3. Get a Transportation Card

A transportation card such as T-money makes traveling much easier.

You can use it on subways and buses and recharge it when necessary.

For buses, remember:

Tap when you get ON and tap again when you get OFF.

4. Buses and Taxis

5. Traveling Beyond Seoul — Take the KTX
